So I read this , but I'm still not grasping what people mean when they throw the word sentimental around, as far as writing goes. It's usually an insult.
Can anyone who uses "sentimental" as a criticism explain why you would feel that way about a piece...

I suppose these days people use 'sentimental' to refer to something, sentimental means anything that tries to tug on your heartstrings, such as stories featuring impossibly with context, as well.
