Xbox 360 slim is cheaper but you have to pay for live, PS3 you don't, but still i'd go with the Xbox slim.
Better games but PS3 has better graphics
PS3 can have more players (7) but who needs it .

You can create the slimmed down version....
But even otherwise, depending on what sort of stuff your app needs, jetty or even tomcat will do .
If you're using maven, there's a jetty maven plugin that can deploy your war to an embedded instance of jetty .

If you need to differentiate between the two, that's easy if one of the non-slim fields....
For your slim version, why not just retrieve only the data you, and another that only fills the slim fields.
A separate class or inheritance.

I just found out that my IOGEAR KVM switch (GCS22U) doesn't work with my Apple slim aluminum keyboard. This is really frustrating because I now have a KVM that works with Ubuntu and Snow Leopard, except that the keyboard isn't recognized by Snow Leopard...

My guess would be that the IOGEAR didn't work because of it's "unique USB sniffing technology for USB mouse and keyboard emulation" .

As far as I know there isn't one from Microsoft (otherwise ReaderWriterLockSlim would be somewhat pointless) and if you find one from a third party other than one you trust to have excellent minds who have spent a long time thinking about, implementing... .
