It runs on a large number of SOHO routers.
You can use IPsec (even with L2TP ) with OpenWRT .

I took ...

You might be able to get a netbook but obviously that would not take a PCI card .
Miniturised components cost more.
For that sort of system your price is unrealistic.

Looking for a home office (SOHO) market (priced) network hard drive (NAS) that will sync some or all of its content to a cloud-based backup service.
The only option I've been able to find so far is NetGear's [ReadyNAS Vault][1] however from what I've ...

Most firewalls/VPN appliances today allow you to select one of the various tunneling technologies available. The most popular are IPSEC and PPTP, although I've heard good things about OpenVPN. Is there any benefit to OpenVPN over the other two? Am I better...

OpenVPN requires its own driver, but it's a full people who do for SOHO type environments....
As it's a SOHO environment doable for SOHO environments in my opinion.
Frankly any VPN which doesn't require a custom client is a good one .

I have a Windows Server 2003 box installed on an ESXi server (with a bridged connection) connected to a Linksys RV042 router. The Server 2003 install is configured with the RRAS role. I think my policy is set correctly since I can connect to it directly...

My husband and I are in our mid 50's and found a great apt in Soho. Question, are we too old? Is this more of a 30's area? We are young at heart and mind. Seems like a fun place to hang out.
