How to measure solar output for a year before installing solar panels? I need a device that I can setup to measure sun's output for a year, so I can see how feasible it is to have an efficient solar panel array in the area where I intend to install it...

With the upcoming solar eclipse and transit of Venus, I think it's time to equip myself with the right tools for solar viewing so I can be safe for these upcoming events.
I have an Orion 150mm Mak and Orion sells a 7.52" solar filter that fits this scope...
