I have booked a trek to Machu Picchu and I had a question. The company I have booked has come very highly recommended. I have made a deposit in USD and they would like to be paid for the balance in cash, in Soles when I get to Cusco. I am from the US....

If they oblige you to pay it in Soles with their exchange rate, than in dollars or soles.
In Cusco you can find many places where you can change soles or dollars especially in the Sol to make some more money.
