Its quite lite weight both in terms of server load for output and the collectors too .

It's not as fully featured as Nagios but its improving pretty rapidly .

I have coded a soltion to gz some transaction logs up, however some of them are larger than 4gb and the error I get is :-
"The gzip stream can't contain more than 4GB data"
ok so the Compression does not support anything greater than 4gb, does anyone ...

You might want to use a commercial compression....
Because of this, many gzip related tools (such the the .NET GZipStream class) have a 4GB limitation .
Gzip can, technically, be used for >4GB, but the standard gzip distribution does not support this by default .

Almost....
Normally their infrastructure is better and you don't have to care about that kind of problems .
If you're not very experienced in how to run a DNS server and outsourcing is an option, you could let your domain or hosting provider do that for you .

There is no integration among the two, and the complications an limitiations are more than the advantages .
Adding a voip phone to an existing legacy system is not a good solution .

Your problem could be just that - compatibility....
It is there for backward compatibility purposes only.
Documents and settings, in Windows 7, is relegated to a System file and is known, together with several other "legacy" folders, as a "junction" folder .

If you care about what the URLs....
While it would be great to preserve file names as they are for the sake of the user, from a technical viewpoint, your approach sounds sound .
I am assuming you are validating file names for later use as download file names .
