What surface wind speed will your original Quik cope with in terms of ground handling / taxiing / for taking off into (assuming that wind is mostly coming straight down the runway). Or put another way ... what ground wind speed would you need to see on...

I have a blade and do ....
In the quantum
10 m.p.h.
As a good indicator
10 m.p.h.
I always look at the gusts more than the wind speed.
It isn't really the wind speed but the direction and gust factors that need to be watched.

Wind Speed, Shutter Speed, And Foliage Is there some kind of general rule of what shutter speed to use in order to freeze motion when shooting foliage in a breeze/wind? I'm never really sure what speed I need to freeze motion even in a slight breeze.

The thing is, not all the branches/leaves/foliage will be moving the same speed; thick branches....
To be sure all of shutter speed, 1/500.
The higher the wind speed, the faster the shutter speed needs to be to stop motion.

Hi -
I am trying to plot wind barbs/vectors from a grib/netCDF-coded field of wind direction/speed, with the barbs/vectors coloured by the wind speed. I am using the method Grids > One value cloured by another. However, this finishes in error message...

I was not aware of this, because vector method....
It works fine for "ordinary" NWP atmospheric wind fields.
Then you can use flow are correct.
wind speed at 10m" and "wind direction at 10m" to SPEED and DIR, respectively.

While back the above chart was published by KELTY, it's quite interesting!

It's taught me exactly what you state: that people definitely overestimate wind speed.
But I am sure it felt that strong.
Climbers over estimate wind speed but as well water depth...

Hello ,ok im waiting to fly my thruster for the first time and have been waiting for best conditions, now I have 2 wind socks sepersted by 300 mtrs and a hight difference of 5 ft,
I want to know why they almost never face the same way? wind layers? I dont...

We get a bit paranoid about wind direction and speed when first taking a new, unfamiliar aircraft Thruster eh? I think we get a bit paranoid about wind direction and speed when first taking a new.

Hello!
As part of a project related to dam overtopping induced by wind (wave run-up and wave set-up), I am looking for information on how to calculate fetch lenghts for a reservoir.
I would appreciate any information about it.
Thanks!

Since my goal is get the overtopping induced by wind on a reservoir....

A big advantage (with the 280) over the 500, the higher air speed gives.
Flying dual, but fine solo.

Could say we had a "little" wind today ...

As all pilots should know, it is important to know both your pressure altitude and density altitude.
If you are not familiar with this please read here: http://www.aopa.org/special/weather/0307jw.html
In short, cold days tend to be good for flying because...

I was quite calculations a gust with a given ....
Tim- I also have believed that a 20 mph wind at 100 degrees has less force than a 20 mph wind at 0 speed at the same pressure with the lower temperature has 21.6% more kinetic energy.
