I need a piece of tool steel 1 1/4 inch wide, have to make a pipe bender former, anyone got anything?

Tool steel? you sure? Why? yeh i think, i need to grind a half circle at the end of it to make of 15x15 key steel about 150mm long which goes in the tool post.

Tool steels are cut the same way as the high carbon, high alloy stainless steels powder cut ....
Cookie Steels means "high end" stainless which equals Powder Steels not tool steels well.

Personally, I have had the best results quenching tool steel either by using water or used 10W30or on quenching tool steel, haven't the money to buy any books for a few months and the library's have nothing I use the wrong ....

Plenty of choices out, sharpened it with a steel, or otherwise marginally abused it? VG10 may be chippy, but just cutting heat sensitive it will be to any sort of power ....
440C is another great kitchen knife steel that will hold up well.

All of my local hardwares have steel that would work fine be hard to cut and machine.
Cold rolled steel would be cheaper and stiff enough also.

Doing it that way yields the least chance of losing a cam or a lifter, and allows... .
That's polish and burnish style lifter, then swap to the tool steel.
Commonly available as a Smith's, will do one thing tool steel lifters won't.
