I'm interested in learning a programming language with support for GUI, multithreading and easy test manipulation (support for regex).
Mainly on Windows but preferably cross-platform. What does the Stack Overflow community suggest?

Answer Snippets (Read the full thread at stackoverflow):
AFAIK, it supports.
It's the only of mentioned languages to have syntax-level regex support.
There're bindings to Tk (out.
It has nice support of multiprocessing, though.
Are using Stackless ).

Atleast while different ports are....
I have IIS+ASP+MSSQL and XAMPP (apache+PHP+MySQL) installed on my development machine and both of them don't interrupt work of another another .
It's certainly possible.
Both will run under IIS in a Windows server.

As most Web developers know, IE6 is a pain to support when it comes to making a website look and feel just as in the other major browsers (Firefox and IE7). I'd like to know what are the feelings of other developers toward supporting IE6 on their websites...

As nice as it sounds to not have to support IE6 anymore, the fact of the matter is a large percent percent of your potential user base, you have to still support IE6.

I have a java web application built on Stuts2/Google Guice/JPA. It uses hibernate as the JPA vendor. I would like to add support so it can be used on Google's App Engine. Of course I'm running into issues with the queries and mappings. Such as Many-to...

You could probably....
Another idea is that DataNucleus is a JPA vendor as well .
This way you can have queries for a RDBMS in one configuration and your queries for BigTable in another configuration .
You could relocate your queries to an XML configuration.

With the best will in the world, whatever software you (and me) write will have some kind of defect in it.
What can I do, as a developer, to make things easier for the support department (first line, through to third line, and development) to diagnose...

Okay i know that it's important for your website to work fine with javascript disabled.
In my opinion one way to start thinking about how to design such websites is to detect javascript at the homepage and if it's not enabled redirect to another version...

Then you can enhance it further with Javascript - you can add or remove elements... .
The next enhancement is CSS - you make it look good .
Basically you take a simple HTML website, with regular forms .
The usual method is what's called progressive enhancement.

I often feel like I should be contributing more to certain projects as I depend on them daily, but often feel I would mostly be getting in the way.

I've submitted patches to various OSS projects, and most interactions have been very pleasant .
I'm simply too busy to devote time to any programming I don't get paid for - whether that's open-source projects or my own projects .
