What are the things to check to make sure my server's SMTP can be used by PHPMailer similar to that when I'm using GMail's SMTP?

Note that... .
If you're verifying that $filename ends in .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, or .png, it clearly can't be "." or ".." .
You may be overthinking it.

And it's crucial for quality.
This is often neglected step.
Make sure all the tests pass! You do have tests don't you? =)
If there exists this one final thing the initial drop, to make sure that it's thoroughly bugfixed.
