The sort of thing you might write after reading the Forth spec .
However, it seems to be analogous to disk thrash which is heavy inefficient use of a disk on x86 hardware will thrash the stack.
THRASHPIT Profil Quote: : Its all began when Aditya and Alvin, a junior high class mate, get fueled by their passion for thrash metal acts such as Metallica and Megadeth. They started dreaming to form a thrash band, but its not easy. After a year separated...

In some projects, but not all, when I open a designer for the first time (either WinForms or typed dataset) Visual Studio thrashes the disk for up to 30 minutes while freezing (this appears to be reads and writes with between 100 and 140 pages\sec). Once...

OK, so it looks like it was defunct database connections... .
Try pagedefrag.
It could be registry fragmentation too.
It sounds like you are either running short on RAM and opening a designer puts it over the top or your hard disk needs to be defragmented .
I have a sick Windows XP laptop; something's making the disk thrash and the entire system is sluggish to unresponsive a few minutes after boot. How do I figure out what is making the disk thrash? Task Manager is fine for finding what's using the CPU or...

You can do this from Task manager, but I prefer using Process Explorer .
Click on the Process Performance Tab, and select "I/O Reads" and "I/O Writes" .
Run it and click view > Select columns.
Download Process Explorer from Microsoft / Sysinternals.
I booted up today and my disk hasn't stopped thrashing in 20 minutes. CPU activity is flat; the only processes using anything right now are firefox and dwm.exe and it's ~1%. So I figured I'd look at what's happening with Procmon. svchost.exe is making...

From my Post on What’s making my disk thrash in Windows XP.
The break down of the svchost processes.
I have 4 gigs of RAM, but Windows still thrashes disk sometimes (especially often when app is minimized for some time and then I activate it again). Completely stupid, coz task manager shows 2 gigs of RAM are free. Is there any way to prevent Windows ...

Is the system slow or are you just using the word thrash.
Minimize them rather than leaving them in memory.
This is a programming question in the sense that I'm experiencing a hardware issue which is keeping me from being able to develop effectively... Anyway, my PC is running insanely slow, but it doesn't appear to be a memory consumption issue or a CPU issue...

They will tell you precisely what disk activity is happening... .
Diskmon or Filemon.
The process that has lots of activity may be your culprit .
For a really quick test you can check Task manager, choose columns and choose IO stuff as well as Page Faults .
The Bonded by blood album is the 'classic thrash metal' debut album by the 'mighty' EXODUS featuring original vocalist the 'late great' Paul Baloff. This album should be in every thrash metal fan's collection (and not from a down load you mutha's!).
