I cook for a living and I use roma tomatoes and a 12" dexter that the Ninja doesn't give.

I'm making a stew in the slow cooker.
For a change, I've added two tins of chopped tomatoes, instead of most of the water.
Has anyone tried it and, if so, what did you think of the resulting stew?

I always add tomato puree to the base of stews and braises for depth of flavour.
It will be delicious.
I often add tomatoes and tomato puree.
tomatoes will give a similar effect when cooked long and slow.

I was recently told not to feed tomatoes (of which at certain times of the year I have plenty) to hens or poultry in general.
Could somebody enlighten me on this claim please ,as the hens seem rather partial to them.

My OH grows LOTS of tomatoes so the chooks get a lot to eat (he just from runny poo if they get way....
Even green ones.
Yum! Maybe they meant tomato leaves??
Tomatoes are a fruit and I can't possibly see why chooks shouldn't eat them.
