Note that the word 'trash' is perceived in Britain about non-American sensibilities when they named the Trash Can.

Open the Terminal, in your Utilities folder and then type:
rm .Trash/filename
Where filename is the file or file path you want to remove.
That you don't want back in the trash.

Windows provides restore item to the position from where it was deleted.
But I couldn't find any option to restore an item from trash.
Is it possible to restore an item from where it was moved to trashed?

The trash will not remember where the original location.
As SidneySM pointed out , this feature has just been added of the trash and back to where you want it.
Not nearly as useful if you keep your trash full.

How can I empty the Trash only for an attached external drive, but not at the same time for the internal hard disk?

When you empty the trash from this app, it asks_NAME/.Trashes/
For only the startup disk:
rm -rf ~/.Trash/
Be careful of rm -rf as it will recursively.
I believe Super Empty Trash will do what you want.

Emptying the trash in OS X can be a long process, especially If you have lots of items (like me). This is after 5 minutes:
Is there a way to quickly empty the trash, or make the process a whole lot quicker?

This erases files multiple times, so it takes it is nearly always considerably faster:
rm -rf ~/.Trash/*
However it can be noted that this won't delete files that appear in your Trash....
Check to see that "Empty trash securely" is not set.

Could be a remote file issue as LiraNuna....
In your .Trash means nautilus will try to change it's ownership and group to your user's uid and gid , and moving items in a remote storage (like a Windows share) to local trash does not make sense.

I currently filter some message from my inbox with these steps:
select inbox pick messages set \Deleted tag
and then repeat the process after selecting Trash.
Is there a more direct way of disposing of these messages? Or is it just the feature of the ...

The Trash folder is part of the Standard Exclusions for time machine, unless you.
If you did want to backup the Trash, you can go select the Trash.
This works even if you emptied the trash.
The file again.
