Sample Chatter Excerpts
What direction do you think both parties are trending in?
As of right now the Republicans have become Democrats and the Democrats haven't changed. As long as the people keep receiving handouts, they'll keep the Dems in power. I would love to see more Libertarian ideas come out of Congress but that entails program cutbacks and less government spending. Neither are in our near future and are considered political suicide by our careerist politicians. source
Best Money management?
There seems to be a dearth of good books on money management in trading in particular subject of position sizing. Can anyone recommend a good book that they have read? I can recommend Daryl Guppy's book on Money Management, but I'd like to read more. source
Jet2 bucks hiring trend, Globespan tits up, E-Clear link?
It is not unusual for credit card companies to retain 30 or 45 days receipts as security money as part of the merchant agreement. If there is an option to "factor" this credit that costs the company money, but does improve cash flow in the shsort term but cuts margins as the Factor fees are quite high. The problem can be that companies become victims of thier own success and margins are eroded to keep the increase in sales going and provide the service, in this case the routes. This is an unpleasant subject for the ex GSM guys and once again demonstrates how totally unsupportive and useless this government are in our industry. Taxing fuel and pax to the hilt is no way to encourage growth, and the " green" lobby can all bloody walk as far as I'm concerned. Just as Qatar threw a life line to the Zoomers, they seem to be doing the same to the GSM guys, so good luck all. source

Besides Minnesota, what "purplish" states are moving towards the GOP?
Ohio, Missouri, maybe Michigan, maybe Iowa, and maybe Winsconsin. Ohio tops this list because of the bleed off in industrial regions, and most of the rural areas moving away from the Democrats even further. In Missouri there is just too much of an exodus in rural areas away from the Democrats, that outpaces small amounts of urban growth. Michigan is a hard case because most people there are not likely to blame the economic troubles on the Democrats, if anything I expect some people to flip back to the Democrats. The Republicans going so hard against the auto bailout and unions won't help them there. Still with Detroit and other cities declining they might have a shot. Iowa would not have been exceptionally strong for Obama if it wasn't for McCain going against ethanol. I could see Iowa trending towards the Republicans from now on. Winsconsin is somewhat similar to Iowa in my explanation for why it is moving towards the Republicans. source
