I am incredibly new to Betta but I've sort of fallen in love with them and pretty quickly so I now have many in my house. All in decent sized tanks and while I think I know what most of them are, I'm still looking for information...

Lobe size should be genetic with maybe some environmental influence when young, but more then less a genetic bit .

Other then that, it sounds like a great home for a betta .
I think you would be better off getting one other kind of food like spirulina for him and also try fasting him on wednsday .
