All we were taught my freshman year was something called 'Engineering Graphics' which just touched on... .
For what it's worth, when I started engineering school back in 1965 the assumption was that you had learned drafting in high school (which I didn't) .

Tbh so far we've used many different books to dip in and out of so they're isn't one "main" text book (for Oxford anyway, can't really comment on others).
