Every time I recharge my sony vaio, it'll recharge up to 100%.
However, in the morning as I unplug it from the recharger, the battery life is always at 80-89% when I begin to play. Why isn't it at full battery?

How old is the laptop battery? If it has been... .
For example, MacBook Air starts to charge the battery when it´s under 95% .
The are some laptops that don´t charge their batteries until they fall down to a specific level .

Hi, I'm looking to keep my old Sony Vaio, but add more RAM and a new HD. I've got the RAM taken care of, but I was wondering if anyone knew the limitations for the HD. The machine is a VGN-SZ1HP/B .
I'm pretty sure it's a 2.5" SATA, but I'm not sure if...

Your link is showing a Scorpio Blue....
However, as your laptop most likely only has SATA1, the drive will not run at its top speed, however, it will be backwards compatible .
It looks like it is a standard SATA drive, so that one you linked to will work .

You may also want to contact Sony Support.
If you need drivers for the devices I would search for the hardware IDs on Google and get the driver packages from there .
I've had similar experiences, except with a laptop brought back from Japan .

Howdy,
We have an out of warranty Sony Vaio VGN SZ18GP - it seems the LCD brightness is down to the lowest setting (the screen is barely readable). It is dark throughout the boot up sequence implying that it isn't an OS issue.
The fn brightness +/- keys...

It could be a problem with your video drivers....
This is not necessarily a hardware issue.
I'd be guessing it's non-trivial to fix, even if you could find parts yourself; a service centre is your best bet .
Sounds like the backlight has died on your LCD.
