I have fedora 9 on sony vaio with dual boot. But Fn keys dont work. Is there any other way to adjust brightness ? I have ATI graphics card.

Has anybody been able to get the Vaio Smart Network tool working on Windows 7? I'm using 2.2 but the UI is completely messed up and it doesnt work.

YES! To fix this problem, all you need to do is, first make sure vaio smart network is not running to work with a sim card but no driver appears in device manager.

Has anyone with this VAIO been able to install Windows 7 and have it detect the monitor and graphics adaptor?
Am just getting "Standard VGA" for the display, and "Generic Non-PnP" for the Monitor.
Resolution is limited to 1024 x 768 as a result.
Any ideas...

Solved by exploding the driver from NVIDIA and then grabbing one of the inf files manually... .

Hi, I'm looking to keep my old Sony Vaio, but add more RAM and a new HD. I've got the RAM taken care of, but I was wondering if anyone knew the limitations for the HD. The machine is a VGN-SZ1HP/B .

Your link is showing a Scorpio Blue....
However, as your laptop most likely only has SATA1, the drive will not run at its top speed, however, it will be backwards compatible .
It looks like it is a standard SATA drive, so that one you linked to will work .

I have a Sony Vaio laptop (VGN-SZ1HP/B) that unfortunately has only one memory slot working (see my previous problem here ), and it's very annoying as I'm limited to 1GB of RAM. According to Crucial, my machine has a maximum capability of 2GB (2x 1GB)...

But the chance isn't all that high....
There is a chance it will work, as sometimes the maximum module size in official specs is set to the maximum size that got full (or any) testing even though the chipset and board theoretically support larger per port .
