Activesync will be the most reliable method, being the one that will be the same for all windows mobile devices .

Administrator under Vista.
Did you consider an uninstall understand.
The issue is that WMDC can't write to the registry.

If you're using Vista 64-bit and you use the 32-bit WMDC, this error would likely occur....
The WMDC package has the USB driver bundled with it.

If you have WMDC configured to sync your phone with Outlook, then
outlook.exe will always be started to sync the mobile device....
