How do I disable the track-change popup in the WMP11 mini-bar?
(Windows XP if it makes a difference)

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer....
Im afraid this is something that is part of the WMP mini-bar, you can either disable mini-bar all together or use a much better media software like songbird or winamp
There is a registry hack to fix that .

Version 4 should work with ndiswrapper.
Try that method first.
According to the Wiki, all versions except 4 should work with the Prism2 GUI which is located in the control panel .

I'm using windows vista with windows media player 11. I updated my codecs but WMP 11 won't play .avi files. It will play the audio but the video is black/blank. The same file plays on another computer with vista so I don't know what's going on. Again ...

The problem is specifically when trying to use
WMP11 that is DLNA compliant and it works ....
WMP11 can see the video files, is associated with
the extension in Windows, has them in its library and can play them
locally without problem.
