As Rodeey said, there isn't much a difference feature-wise.
As long as your burning software supports SATA drives then that's what you should get .
Short of the bus type (IDE vs SATA), there isn't much a difference to you .

The workflow involves sending data to the server for report generation, then it is sent back to the client in pdf, word, etc format for display .

Stuff happens here...

You will lose exceptions if another thread throws it before the reader dealt with the existing one .
You will not be able to get away this easy .

What are the possible data cable types to connect DVD writer to motherboard? What are the differences between them? Do I have to use only one type for a writer or is it optional?
My motherboard is GigaByte P43-ES3G and my DVD writer is LG GH22NP20 .

Your DVD-Writer is an IDE one.
There are two datacables out there, IDE aka PATA and SATA .
